  1. 1.      Process Scheme Design and Basic Engineering Package for a Lube Oil Processing Plant for Client in Singapore.

  1. 2. Training simulator project for Global training center of Reliance Industries Ltd.

Role: Lead Engineer

Team:  One Project Manager, One Lead Engineer (Self), Three  Applications Engineers, One Software Development engineer

Responsibilities: Single point responsibility of dynamic simulation for developing/converting standard models in UNISIM (Hysys) platform.

  • Training of the engineers on Dynamic Simulation and Operator Training Simulator concepts.
  • Setting Quality Specifications for the models to be built.
  • Performing Quality Checks for the work done by the engineers.
  • Close interaction with the In-charge of Reliance Group Manufacturing            Services, Reliance Simulator Training Systems and Automation department           to update them about the status of the project and to ensure timely           installation of Hardware, Various Software, Networking from central server             to various sites   Testing and Correction of models, customizing standard      models to suite Reliance Training Needs, and find ways to expedite the project
  • Co-coordinating with US based Technical Head and Project Manager for        getting Updated software for Training Simulator HMI and E-learning tools,        integration of various software components and configuration of remote           monitoring and remote access of the Training simulator models from Various           Sites of Reliance.

  1.  Process Design of Batch Distillation systems for One of The Top Pharmaceutical Company in Mumbai India.:
  • Designed batch Distillation columns and its accessories ( Reboliers, Condensers, Product tanks, Feed tanks ) for azeotropic distillation of IPA-Water-Methanol system, Metnaol- EDC-Water, HNDA-Water-Impurities and HMDA-Water-Impurities,
  • Responsible for the delivery of complete  process design Package of columns, Heating/cooling Arrangement, Agitators, Packing heights with PFD and P&IDs of above distillation system with start-up, shutdown and operating procedures . The Columns were fabricated as per the design and now operating successfully at Plant. Design of Columns were based on Simulation in Chemcad Process Simulation Software, CC Therm Software and data given by the client.

 

  1. 4.                 Process Simulation to identify the cause of Impurities in a Ethylene Glycol manufacturing Plant ( Client a top Glycol manufacturing Company in India ) 
  • Simulated the entire alcohol purification plant which included six heat integrated distillation columns with recycle loops to remove aldehyde /Mercaptans and acetone from Alcohol.  First, simulation result was matched with plant result and then operating conditions were changed to reduce acetone and aldehyde contents to acceptable limits. New operating conditions were implemented in the plant and that solved the problem. Chemcad Process Simulation Software was used for this project.

 

  1. 5.                 Process Simulation to Reduce Batch time of Batch reactor (  one of the top Pharma Company in India ) 
  • Kinetic regression of many simultaneous competing reactions using lab scale data. The kinetic data were used to simulate actual plant reactors using geometry of internal coils, agitator, heating / cooling schedule and reactant feed schedule. Simulation result closely matched with plant result. The reaction conditions and feed schedule, molar ratios of reactant were optimized and implemented in plant which resulted in improved product yield and reduced batch time.

 

  1. 6.                 Process Simulation of Reactive Extraction Column (Fat Splitting Column -Cognis Oleo Chemicals, Malaysia ) 
  • Kinetic regression of Fat Splitting Hydrolysis Reaction using published reaction data was carried out using Chemstations batch Reactor. The kinetic parameter generated by regression was used to model the fat splitting column by dividing the column into many small sections with a three phase separator between two sections. Water and oil were introduced in counter current manner. Simultaneous solver was used to get convergence.   The conversion was compared with actual plant result which matched closely with actual plant result. This gave confidence to the client to buy simulation software.

  • Detailed Simulation of Crude Distillation Unit with Pre-heat Train.
  • Power Plant Steam Balance, Pre and Post Combustion Carbon Capture, Flue Gas Desulphurization System Design, Detailed Simulation of Gas /Steam Turbines in Hysys ( Dynamic Simulation)
  • Simulation of Vacuum Distillation unit and setting of Optimization Routine to minimize Vacuum Residue and increase HVGO and LVGO cuts while maintaining the quality indicators within acceptable limits.
  • Steady State Simulation and Design Case validation for VGO Hydrotreater Unit (UOP Process )
  • Simulation of MDEA absorber and regenerator Columns. The simulation results were matched with plant result and used for process design of a new MDEA unit
  • Sour water stripper column simulation. The simulation result were matched with plant results and used for process design of a new sour water stripper column.
  • Detailed Simulation to reproduce and validate beta-naphthol manufacturing process (Combination of batch and continuous operation) using Naphthalene.  This gave confidence to Client (NRDC, India) to buy simulation package.
  • Setting of Optimization function in a heat integrated distillery to reduce impure cut alcohol while maintaining impurities level to acceptable limit in product.
  • Simulation and Design Case Validation of Cocker Column
